A new and ambitious campaign on road safety called 'You are the Road Safety Hero' has been launched by Sarvejana Foundation under the leadership of Dr. A.V. Guruva Reddy, Chairman and Managing Director of KIMS-Sunshine Hospitals. This initiative has been introduced with a clear goal: to make roads safer and significantly reduce the number of accidents and fatalities. The program sets its sights on saving over 1.5 lakh lives annually by addressing road safety through a combination of education, better enforcement of traffic rules, and improvements in infrastructure.
Schools and colleges will play a pivotal role in this effort, as awareness programs are being planned to educate young people on the importance of safe driving and adherence to traffic laws.Another key aspect of the initiative is first-aid training for individuals, equipping them with the skills needed to provide immediate help to accident victims. Alongside this, the campaign is working closely with government agencies and private organisations to pinpoint accident-prone areas and take corrective measures to prevent further incidents.
Dr. A. V Gurava Reddy also highlighted plans to use technology to support the initiative. AI-powered tools will be employed to monitor roads, enforce traffic regulations, and even predict accident patterns. These advancements aim to enhance the overall impact of the campaign. Having spent over four decades in the medical profession, Dr. A. V Gurava Reddy brings a wealth of experience and determination to this mission. His vision is to see a 17% reduction in road accidents by the end of 2025. The 'You are the Road Safety Hero' initiative stands out not just as a campaign but as a movement toward a safer and more responsible society.
